How to make your study a bit more easy and fun oriented.

A little help.

For BA students.

As-Salaam Alaykum Wa Rahmatullah Wa Barakatuh,

Bismillah, In the name of Allah.

First of all I would like to congratulate you all for your pious journey of acquiring Islamic knowledge. We at Islamic Online University would like to make your journey more and more comfortable, InshAllah.

Here are some tips you can take advantages of, InshAllah.

1. While you are in process of studying, it is very important that you keep in touch with your teachers. Make a list of email IDs and other relevant information about your teachers or TAs. And keep it in a place most convenient to you, like your desktop of your computer or your personal diary.
2. Same as you keep the information about your TAs, also keep information about administrators. So that at the time of need you can contact them easily.
3. While studying it is very beneficial to make study groups. You can make a study group on Facebook, skype or maybe any other social networking website etc. I will post the Dos and Don’ts of Study groups later, InshAllah.
4. Notes taking is most important for a student. So it would be better if you take regular notes of what you learn. Example
1. Start a blog, maybe wordpress or Blogger.
2. Assign its administratorship to all the members of your study circle.
3. Mark different category for different subjects, like Aqeedah101, Fiqh101 and so on.
4. Post your notes on the blog on regular basis with proper date, layout and properly accredited.
5. Take 2 different notes based on reading material and listening material.
6. Once you get satisfied with your blog, send me the link, I will post it on IOU blog so that other students can also take the advantage.
5. There are mostly two types of students, students of understanding and students of memorizing. As a student of knowledge you should have both the qualities in your learning behavior.
6. Questing. Sense of questioning it very important for you as a student of knowledge. While you are reading the reading material or listening to audio or video, jot down each and every question comes in your mind.
1. Write down the question comes in your mind.
2. Take a personal tour to explore the answers.
3. Share the questions and the answers with other students in students’ discussion forum.
4. Ask respective TAs for clarification.
5. Always try to ask more and more questions and first of all try to figure them out personally and then with some one knowledgeable. Because little knowledge is dangerous thing.
7. Try to develop a habit of monitoring your learning process. Maybe you can maintain a personal diary or maybe a audio diary. Write everything, what you liked and disliked, was it difficult or interesting, how you felt when you read about particular thing, how would you teach the subject if you were teacher, what questions came in your mind, have you any prior idea of the subject etc. Add your learning experience in your diary it will help you in figuring your learning process.
8. Make research papers, get it approved by your TAs and then publish it on your blogs.
